As they wait no doubt indifferently to find out where they’ve made it in the various albums of the year lists, New York's experimental heroes TV On The Radio are getting ready to release their new single 'Dancing Choose' (on January 12).

They're an odd proposition Crystal Stilts. Somehow both perky and gloomy simultaneously, they conjure sunny surf pop connotations while exhuming the echoed melancholy of Factory's darker output and make you want to dance on the end of frosty piers with a wistful frown on your face.

They sound as fuzzy as they look.

While Brooklyn's art-rock and psych-pop bases are already covered, the woozy garage fuzz corner belongs to these guys. Their full-length LP 'Alight Of Light' is out in the new year on one of our favourite indie labels Angular Records.

We love Little Boots for many reasons. The Tenori-on, the unicorns, the sleigh bells, the Youtube covers, 'Stuck On Repeat' and 'Magical' spring immediately to mind but there's loads more reasons.

There's the lo-fi late night cover of Hot Chip's 'Ready For The Floor':

The recent Jools gig:

The amazing Fake Blood remix, 'Stuck On You'.

And of course 'Meddle', remixed here by Treasure Fingers, who have also reworked the likes of Chromeo, Operator Please and Alex Metric and are well worth checking out too.

Some bands do a bit of remixing. Others get some of their tracks remixed. Metronomy, on the other hand, seem to live entwined in the middle of a massive tangled ball of mixes, covers and reworkings, never far from the desk in a big communal operating theatre for tunes with parts of songs flying in and out of their house incessantly.

If you're a fan of Pendulum, for whatever reason, and are heading out to any of their shows in the next few weeks, I suggest you turn up early to check out Maltese DJ prodigies South Central .
