That Kiss

If the thought of Liam Fray puckering up makes you queasy, a whole three-and-a-bit minutes of him singing about it is unbearable. ‘That Kiss’ is what used to be called a “lighters in the air moment”, but not now – mobiles, duh – plus you’ll be hard-pushed to find a flame-inducing friend, since NME has swigged the fluid from every last one. Why? Plodding balladry like this.

here we go again...how come, if this track is so bad, it was recommended on the NME stereo bit last week you knobheads? It's a real uplifting anthem - like McAlmont & Butler meets Moz - one of the singles of the year yet some idiots at NME can't see that and instead they persist in attempting to convince us that their 'underground' mates Fucked Up are the future. The Courteeners biggest crime, it seems, is selling a load of albums and tickets - you fat little pigeons.

damn i can write reviews like this too! just constant complaints about how bad every single song is...i'd rather say that reading the-whole-paragraph from this reviewer is unbearable

Camilla sounds like a right larf. According to Amelia's mag she likes "watching Nigella and The Golden Girls, drinking tea and wheat beer or spending ridiculous amounts of money on big accessories and designer toys" zzzzzzzzz... NME'd be better off getting Camille Paglia to do the reviews. Brilliant song by a brilliant band by the way...

I think it's a great track, and it's something new to the band playing with a string arrangement.

See what really sticks in the craw about this band - well not so much the band but the bleedin' h**e surrounding them, is that anyone would think we'd been sat in a cold grim desert waiting for a heartfelt hewn band with witty, yearning lyrics and a distinct northern bent to take up where Moz and co wisely left off. Yet, and listen up kids, I AM KLOOT have been floudering in the doldrums of obscurity for nearly 10 (yes TEN) long years and you didn't even notice - and they certainly do everything the Courteeners do but with true wit, grace and beauty and a wonderfully distinct northern bent, so what gives huh? Probably cos they don't have easily understandable elements such as a gobby Manc singer and a sub-Libs crunch. Ignore this cultural red-herring from Middleton and go out and support the Kloot instead, IMMEDIATELY!

A band that would have struggled to get a record deal at the fag end of Brit Pop, when any chancer with a 'Manc' accent and a bowl-cut could get signed. They're fucking awful, the sort of band Simon Cowell would sign if he ever went Indie. Much kudos to the I am Kloot fan.

the courteeners are such a brilliant band just what the indie scene needs! what the f**k! they are shit! what the indie scene needs is something new and different which is what indie is/was about not something boring and shit like everything else out there.
