Approximately one 100th of this song contains distortion; if you haven’t heard any of Dev Hynes’ work post-Test Icicle yet, you could well be in for a bit of a shock. Even if you’re already au fait with Lightspeed Champion’s charms, you might still choke on the line “Wake up, smell the semen”. We certainly did. Either way, this 10-minute slice of blissed-out Americana (with Bright Eyes producer Mike Mogis at the helm, would you expect anything less?) is everything Test Icicles’ oeuvre wasn’t: luscious, soothing and ultimately, really very good indeed.
