Ex-Smiths singer will also play London show

Morrissey has announced details of three live shows for 2009 - one of which will take place in his native Manchester on his 50th birthday.

The former Smiths singer will play at the London Royal Albert Hall on May 11, then at the Manchester Apollo on May 22 and 23.

The first Manchester show is on the date of Morrissey's 50th birthday.

The shows will follow the release of the star's next studio album, 'Years Of Refusal', scheduled to hit the shelves on February 16. Morrissey recently revealed the cover art for the new album.

Tickets for the shows go on sale on Friday (December 5) at 10am (GMT).
