Minor indie bands in punch-up

Little Man Tate and Troubadours come to blows

Little Man Tate (pictured) and The Troubadours were involved in a fight over a rider at a gig this weekend (June 7).

Both lower league indie bands were playing Aston University when they came to blows, and it was claimed they had to be separated by venue staff and police.

Little Man Tate were first to point the finger, issuing a statement that claimed: "The Troubadours were acting like rock 'n' roll thugs all day, stealing bottles of Jack Daniels and winding everybody up. When they threatened Little Man Tate's soundman, vocalist Jon Windle confronted them and it was carnage."

The Troubadours responded by claiming that the booze was for everyone, and the Sheffield band had not been sharing.

"The Troubadours' first wee festival of this summer turned out to be an interesting affair," said their statement.

"After performing our set, we were surprised at an accusation thrown at us from another band about drinking free drinks provided by the promoter. So protective were they over the stash of booze you'd have thought they'd have been down the offie themselves. Troubadours lead guitarist Johnny Molyneux made a comment about this accusation to the other band, a scuffle broke out, and with just two Troubies outnumbered by this other band and their mates, we can only assume they had 'little man syndrome' or something. We'd watched them perform earlier and to be honest the fight was more entertaining!"

The Troubadours are a better band and could prolly take little man taint on a 4 on 2 anyway...I bet The Troubadours blow up soon

The troubadours only managed to enthuse the crowd at that thing by playing a John Lennon cover. They're probably quite happy to have something written about them.

Twats, you cant just walk into someone else's room and steal their booze. What do you expect them to do let you take stuff! I think Troubadours didn't like it cause LMT were higher in the order and went down better than them.

Typical NME readers, know nothing about anything other than student fashion music.I was at that festival. It was Last Time by The Rolling Stones not John Lennon. I also heard them play it when they supported Paul Weller last month.

Quite funny, looks like LMT telling tales to the headmaster, after Troubadours helped themselves to extra chips at lunch . Troubadours Gimme Love is a tune though, no matter whose booze it is

Do the troubadours actually exist as a serious entity? Who the hell are they anyway? Their MySpace sounds like The Crescent...Oh dear.

'Thats odd a couple of these comments mention things not in the news piece!!?? Are Little Man Twat posting their own comments? They wanna grow up!''Little Man Twat just embarrased themselves acting like dicks about free booze and then using it to get publicity, they're like the school grass running to tell teacher'

One band is on the up after just one single release and the other band dropped from their label... cant compare really, shouldnt the headline be 'new indie band vs has-beens' (well if theyd had a career?)

I was there too. I thought The Troubadours were quite decent. At least they arent a poor bi-product of the Arctic Monkeys

indie un - How do you know it was free booze, then? Because The Troubadours told you it was? You're the one who needs to grow up mate 'my fav band told me it happened, so it must have done!!'

vilarforever "Typical NME readers, know nothing about anything other than student fashion music.I was at that festival. It was Last Time by The Rolling Stones not John Lennon. It was still the best song of their set, a cover, though. Sorry but they might be up-and-coming but they are still not in the same league as Little Man Tate - they might get lucky and do a Wombats (who also supported LMT), but for the time being should shut up and not steal other people's riders, because it's unprofessional.
