VMAs continue in Los Angeles

The MTV Video Awards are underway in Los Angeles and Linkin Park, Britney Spears and Chris Brown were among the first to pick up prizes at the ceremony tonight (September 7).

Following an opening slot from Spears herself, the pop star earned two awards for her video 'Piece Of Me', including Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

Meanwhile, Chris Brown, who wrote the song that his rumoured girlfriend Rihanna performed to open the proceedings, won Best Male Video for 'With You'. Actress Demi Moore presented him with the award, reminding the audience that David Bowie picked up the same award when the VMAs first aired 25 years ago.

Linkin Park took home the Best Rock Video gong for 'Shadow Of The Day', while Lil Wayne won the award for Best Hip Hop Video for 'Lollipop'.

Best New Artist honours went to Tokio Hotel, while Pussycat Dolls were awarded with Best Dancing In A Video for 'When I Grow Up'.
