Glastonbury release further 2009 ticket details

Glastonbury 2007

Glastonbury 2007

There's no limit to how many you can buy for the festival

Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has announced that fans can buy as many tickets as they want for the 2009 festival.

Unlimited numbers of tickets can be bought when they go on sale on October 5, as long as each purchase or deposit is matched with a valid registration number.

As previously reported, fans who have previously registered with Glastonbury do not need to do so again, while those who are currently unregistered can sign up now.

Booking lines will open on October 5 at 9am (BST), and registered festival-goers will have two options - to buy a full weekend ticket at £175 (plus £5 booking fee) or to reserve a ticket at £50 each.

The remaining balance must be paid by February 1, 2009.

Glastonbury 2009 takes place at Worthy Farm, Somerset, between June 26 and 28.

glastonbury has sold out!!! but only in the sense that it has backed down on its moral and ethical principles to not only allow credit card sales but to put tickets on sale 9 months before the event. what next? the coca cola pyramid stage? the o2 stone circle? .keep it real mr eavis, go back to your roots, and dont sell out!

Wonder who will be headlining next year.....Take That? NERD? Would rather shave me bollocks than go to Glasto with Idiot Eavis in charge

So, they introduced a system that clearly beat the touts, the festival failed to sell out, profits were affected, so now they are opening up all the old tout avenues again - advance sales, credit cards accepted, unlimited amounts of tickets available..... Mr and Miss Eavis, your morals and social values really have deteriorated. I am truly saddened. Thatcher's way is prevailing once again.

How can you say this is playing into the hands of touts when you still have to have your picture on the ticket and if its not going to sell out as its obviously hell on earth why will people go to touts anyway !!?? , Surely they will just buy the many that will be left , so good on you Eavis and I will be there as I have many times before , if you dont like it , dont go dont bother posting. There are enough negs in the world already , this place is a positive

why all the hate? Glasto is the biggest and the best of all the festies. but i do half agree with you, deanoshoes. how would touts be able to buy tickets months in advance? or do they know what all their 'customers' look like? this just means people will be able to book for their mates - so i reckon it will sell out quick again as it used to - especially after it was so good this year. i reckon they'll pull some ace headliners out of the bag come june.

I totally agree with deanoshoes & lynchmob tout's my arse! and as for the line up,what about it, i use to go to Reading Festival and yes it did have a good line up but i've seen practically every band that was playing that weekend bar R.A.T.M & Metallica, and i know i'm sticking with Glasto, it is the mother of all festivals and regardless of the line up at glasto this yr i still had a wicked 5 day's as did everybody else- and as for Noel's moan about "no to Jay-Z " well where were Oasis they could have offered there services, because the line up's a bit weak to Mike and Emily, but no, he just moaned! Then some might say "oh look glasto has sold out, no to brit pop, no sorry SHITPOP!

the stupidity of some of you people astounds me, how can this play into the hands of touts when you have to REGISTER with a PHOTO before you by the ticket? In fact this move makes perfect sense because the four-ticket limit was introduced long before the registration process and having both of these working together was pointless. And the fact that Glastonbury can sell so many tickets without any touts whatsoever surely proves that it is still the best. Honestly, no other festival comes close. But you whinging indie-kids stick with reading (where i felt the security actually outnumbered punters this year) and stay well away from worthy farm
