b. Sam Duckworth, 30 January 1986, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is the work of one man, his guitar and laptop. Duckworth's multi-layered mixes of rock and electronica are recorded in his bedroom studio and then extensively toured. Formerly of punk outfit Silverskin, Duckworth's first performance as Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly took place in 2004, and he took to the process with such vigour that the following year saw him take to the stage over 120 times, travelling on budget coaches and sleeping on the floors of friends. Through 2006 Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly's recognition increased dramatically as a result of touring in support of OK Go and José González.
Duckworth released one self-titled EP and two split albums as Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly on the independent label Big Scary Monsters before signing to Atlantic Records in March 2006. In September of the same year he released The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager. An intriguing combination of acoustic guitar and computer-generated beats and samples, the album bore notable resemblances to US indie act the Postal Service in its lo-fi feeling and close vocal harmonies. Duckworth also began establishing a reputation as a fiercely political songsmith, with his socially aware lyrics and extensive involvement with the "Love Music Hate Racism" campaign.
